The NZ Property Investors’ Federation (NZPIF) is delighted to announce the amalgamation of Capital and Wellington Property Investors’ associations. The new association will continue under the name of Wellington Property Investors’ Association, using the structure of the current incorporated society. There have been months of consultation with members. A survey was conducted as part of this process and there was an overwhelming response from 96% of members of both associations indicating they either wanted one association or were neutral about having a single association for the area. Consequently, work began behind the scenes. The two executive committees started exploring the options of how to achieve the amalgamation in a logical way, and more importantly, how to make sure the amalgamation would increase the benefits for property investors in the Wellington area.

In the past, both associations have continued to have good membership numbers. However, new members have often had difficulty deciding which association would be more suited to their needs. This amalgamation will eliminate the need for decision-making and offers the best mix of what both associations had to offer.

The new Wellington Property Investors’ Association, with a mission to provide inspiration, education, and support, will cater for all property investors in the Wellington area. The executive committee, under the guidance of Peter Ambrose (president) and Shawn Manders (vice president), will continue to deliver value to members through monthly meetings, guest speaker events, Zoom meetings, the monthly NZ Property Investor magazine, and social catch-ups.

Although the Capital Property Investors’ Association will be wound up, all members will be automatically transferred to the new association. Wellington Property Investors’ Association members will continue as members of the amalgamated association.

The first meeting of the new association for 2021 will feature Tony Alexander as the guest speaker. Tony is a former BNZ economist and is now an independent economist. He will deliver an enlightening and entertaining speech on the New Zealand economy. The meeting will be on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at 7.15pm at the venue formerly used by the Capital Property Investors’ Association – the Salvation Army auditorium, 92 Vivian Street, Te Aro, Wellington.

This event is free to members, however, due to expected popularity, guests are asked to register and pay before the event. More details about this event can be found at https://wellington. nzpif.org.nz/.

NZPIF Conference

The new combined association will host the 2021 NZPIF Conference to be held in October. This will bring property investors to Wellington from around the country and will be the highlight of the year.

2021 is a perfect time to join the combined Wellington Property Investors’ Association, or one of the other local associations throughout the country. Never before has our industry gone through as many changes as have been thrown our way during 2020.

The contacts you can make and the information you will learn by becoming a member of an association will help you manoeuvre your way through the many new rules and regulations coming into force. Even if you have a property manager looking after your property, you are ultimately responsible for your property, as the landlord. Gone are the days of buying a rental property and handing it over to someone else to manage.

NZPIF is keen to welcome all new members of the affiliated associations throughout the country in 2021 and encourages Wellington landlords to join the new combined Wellington Property Investors’ Association. Finally, thanks go to all of those who have been involved in making this amalgamation possible and NZPIF wishes the new association every success in the future.
